I actually read this book as the Eisenhorn omnibus. I just had the last part pending. But given that it had been so long since I read it, I decided to get the cover for this book and rate it “separately”.

I’ll also mention that some of the covers for this book are great (like this one) and another is… well, not so great.

This was the third book of the Eisenhorn series, and in a way, a satisfying conclusion to the whole story. Even though it had been a while since I read the previous ones, and lots of characters have lots of history coming from these, the book manages to still be engaging, even though it barely does the typical “let’s explain a bit of everything in case you forgot about it”.

It’s grim, as expected from an Abnett Warhammer 40k book, but it’s neither violence porn nor just mindless action. Well, just a tiny bit sometimes.

These days I’m too busy to read something that requires too much mental processing and can’t care too much about almost anything… but Abnett did make me care about Eisenhorn and at least some of his entourage.

Of course, recommended for 40k fans And of course, only for those who have read the previous books first.
